National Day of Prayer set for May 5

County-Building-2

Pastor Mike Martin of the LifeSeed Church received permission from the Prowers County Commissioners to hold his annual prayer meeting at the courthouse by the flagpole shortly after noon on Thursday, May 5th.  “The day is open to all persons and we expect to have more than the 50 residents who come last year,” he explained.  Martin said he can provide his own pickup truck to carry a generator for his sound system as some music will be provided during the annual event.  Pastor Martin also requested if the flag could be flown at half-staff in, “reverence, respect and humility before God that He would hear our prayer, acknowledge our humility and heal our nation.”

In additional to hearing the request for a beer tent in July for the annual Windmill Classic, the commissioners took action on various agenda items this past Monday, April 11th.

The commissioners approved the appointment of Kole Schwartz to the Prowers County Fair Board and the request from Lisa Carder to serve on the Prowers County Lodging Tax Panel. The request for use of the fairgrounds for the 2016 Colorado State High School Rodeo Association Finals was approved for the event in late May.  A similar agreement for use of the fairgrounds was approved for the Southeast Colorado Can Chasers.
