Muddin’ for a Cure

You’ve waited all year, and finally it’s here! This Saturday, April 16th at the Lamar Speedway on Hwy 196, it’s time to get downright muddy at the 6th annual Muddin’ For A Cure Mud Run. Proceeds from this year’s showdown are being donated to Lamar’s newest non-profit foundation Hairy Boobs, which provide make-overs, spa days, enhancement necessities and other support to area women battling cancer. Last year Muddin’ For a Cure made a sizeable donation to Relay For Life, which is what makes this event great.

Crissy Stegman, coordinator for the event, says this year guarantees to be the best one yet. Last year 37 of the biggest, loudest, meanest trucks plowed thru the mud pits competing for cash, prizes and bragging rights. 2016 promises not to disappoint the crowd, with a bigger cash payout and larger trophies for the drivers the excitement continues to grow. Pit gates open on Saturday at 9:00 am for drivers and their crew to bust out the trucks and get ready for the show. The day kicks off at 1:00 pm with the always entertaining Calcutta, where the crowd gets to buy their favorite truck & driver for the event. It’s a great way for mud runners to get involved and show the drivers some love, while making a donation for a great cause.

At 2:00 pm the green flag waves and the mud starts flyin’ as some of the craziest drivers from all over the region drive like mad dogs thru some of the muddiest pits this side of the Mississippi. And, that just gets us to the intermission, when the REAL fun begins. We can’t tell you what to expect while the pits are being reset, but it’s definitely going to be something you don’t want to miss! Then, the action begins again.

And finally, the day carries over into the night at the Muddin’ For A Cure After Party being held at the Wolves Den Event Center. This party promises to be a can’t miss event with live music by DJ Loco starting at 7:00 pm and featuring the up and coming Daniel Lee Band who is traveling all the way from Athens, Georgia just to entertain. After partiers can also look forward to the finale of the intermission events that will be the icing on the cake for the day. And if it all gets to be too much, no worries because rides from the Lamar Speedway to the Wolves Den are being provided by Christina Page of Appointment Buddy free of charge.
