Elections in Holly April 5

ballot-Box

There is one write-in candidate for Mayor of Holly and four candidates for Holly Trustee which will go before qualified voters in the community on Tuesday, April 5th. Votes can be cast from 7am to 7pm at the Holly Town Complex at 200 South 3rd Street.

Tony Garcia is the lone write-in candidate for mayor and the four persons on the ballot for three Trustee positions are: incumbents Marty Campbell and Larry Sitts; the other two candidates are Joshua W. Reinert and Corey Stephens.

The three elected Trustees will serve a three year term and the Mayor will serve a two year term. Trustee Jerry Jones, who has become mayor since the start of the year, will serve in that capacity until a new person has been elected and will then resume his position on the Board of Trustees until the end of his remaining two years.  Brad Simon stepped down as mayor several months ago and Jones, as mayor pro-tem, was sworn in as his replacement.  Because the Trustee’s monthly meeting falls on the first Wednesday of each month, Administrator Jerry L’Estrange recommended that the April meeting be put back one week on the calendar to April 13th,  instead of having the Trustees begin their duties only hours of being notified of their status.
