Third bronze sculpture added to 911 Memorial in Lamar, completing the panel honoring heroes

The third and final bronze sculpture at the 911 Memorial in Lamar is now complete, after the official unveiling of the third piece during the recent Annual Tri-State 911 Memorial ceremony.  Joining “Officer” (likeness of Will Jimeno) and “Firefighter” (likeness of Steven Siller) is “Warrior”.  Warrior is a replica of Lamar’s own Bryson Schemahorn.  Bryson, a graduate of Lamar High School, joined the Army before his high school graduation and started boot camp shortly thereafter.  He was deployed to Iraq in November of 2003 and returned home in October of 2004, leaving the Army in 2005.  Bryson wasn’t just a warrior on the battlefield –  he was a warrior through his short bout with colon cancer, which was aggressive and unresponsive to treatment.  He was laid to rest on July 10, 2010 in Fairmont Cemetery in Lamar next to his paternal grandparents but is now immortalized in bronze at the memorial.
