Betty Lou (Walker) Kershner – November 3, 1938 – August 10, 2026

In Loving Memory of Betty Lou ( Walker) Kershner

Betty Lou (Walker) Kershner, beloved wife, mom, grandma, aunt and friend peacefully entered the presence of her Lord and Savior on August 10, 2026. She left behind a legacy of faith, family, love and laughter.

Betty was born on November 3,1938 in Lamar, Colorado, to Luther and Virginia Walker. On February28, 1959, she married the love of her life, Don Kershner, in Durant, Oklahoma. Together, they built a life centered around faith, family, love and countless memories.

Mom was a woman of deep faith who loved God and sought to live her life reflecting that love. Her family was her greatest joy, and she treasured the time spent together, especially in the comfort of her own home.

There was something special about mom’s home. She loved being in her garden, tending to the things she grew with her own hands, cooking for the people she loved, and creating a place where family could gather. She was known for her homemade bread, fried chicken and homemade chicken and noodles- recipes and flavors that will undoubtedly live on in the memories of those fortunate enough to have sat around her table.

Mom was talented and creative in so many ways. She could sew, cross stitch, embroidery, loved making cards for family and friends and scrapbooking. Mom loved to play pitch. Mom and dad played with their friends almost weekly and every family get- together she enjoyed a lively game of pitch. But perhaps one of the things people will remember most about her was her sense of humor. She loved to laugh, be silly and bring joy into the lives of those around her. She had a way of making ordinary moments memorable.

Mom was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Virginia Walker, 2 sisters Bessie Powell and LaHoma Stang. She is survived by her husband Don Kershner of the family home; daughter Judy (Rick) Dumler of Greeley, Colorado, grandchildren Jordan Zick, Remington (Ashleigh) Smith and Whitney (Kyle) Cole; daughter Carrie (Mark) Medford of Cheyenne Wells, CO Chase (Amanda) Medford, Briana (Chase) Carlin, Kendra (Medford) Cuellar, Creed Medford and Trevor Medford, 15 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild, nieces and nephews that she was a second “mom” to and friends who were blessed to know and love her.

Her family will forever cherish the memories she gave them and most of all the example she gave of a woman who loved her family deeply and loved God faithfully.

Though she will be profoundly missed, her legacy will live on in every garden she inspired, every recipe that is recreated, every hand made card, every family story and every laugh shared in her memory.

Mom wanted no service, just an intimate, immediate family gathering for her ashes to be spread. There will be a private family get together for a Celebration of her Life on Saturday, August 22 at the Christian Church in Cheyene Wells.

Friends and family can register online condolences and sign the guestbook at
