Lamar Police Department is once again offering its “Citizen’s Academy” June 16-August 4

The Lamar Police Department is once again offering the Citizen’s Academy that will run from June 16 through August 4, 2026.  Classes will be held from 7:00 to 9:00 or 9:30 pm on Tuesday nights with one four-hour Saturday session.  The application deadline is June 12, but application review and acceptance may take up to a week, so interested persons should apply as soon as possible.  Please note that class size is limited!

Applicants must complete and submit their applications either in person at the Police Department or by email.  Applications can be requested by emailing kevin.ridder@ci.lamar.co.us, kenzi.tefertiller@ci.lamar.co.us., or colleen.saldana@ci.lamar.co.us.  Applications can also be found on the City of Lamar website https://ci.lamar.co.us/police-citizen-s-academy.  The online applications require the applicant to download the pdf before filling out the information and then emailing it as an attachment.

The mission of the academy is to educate participants about the operation of their police department while obtaining valuable feedback from those individuals and providing insight and perspective into the job functions.  The Lamar Police Department is excited to share updates since the last Citizen’s Academy.  “If you’ve ever wondered what happens behind the scenes, now is the perfect time to apply and see it for yourself.  We’re looking forward to welcoming a great group of participants” said the department.
