To the Editor:
On November 27, 350-400 of friends, neighbors, and visitors gathered at The HOPE Center for the 10th annual Lamar Community Thanksgiving Luncheon. Once again, our community proved that when we come together, no one spends Thanksgiving alone or hungry. This free home-cooked meal complete with turkey and all the traditional fixings, and an unbelievable array of pies and dessert, would not have been possible without the extraordinary generosity of the people of Lamar and the surrounding area.
We are deeply grateful to:
- The volunteers who helped cook and serve plates with a smile, deliver meals to local homebound and to help decorate and clean up.
- Every individual, family, and business that donated turkeys, side dishes, desserts, money, or supplies. Your contributions filled every table and warmed every heart.
- The HOPE Center for opening its doors and providing the perfect space for our community to gather.
Because of you, up to 350 meals were served and about 150 meals delivered. Each one carrying not just food, but the message we see you and happy to serve you.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for keeping this beautiful tradition alive and for reminding us all what community truly means.
With gratitude,
The Lamar Community Thanksgiving Committee
