The Lamar Lions Club is seeing their American Flag project come to fruition. An enormous crane was parked on East Elm Street and visible from nearly anywhere in the city, even the Arkansas River bridge north of town. Installation of the 80-foot flagpole was done by Duffy Crane and Hauling and it went off without a hitch.
Members of the Lions Club, Rotary Club, Prowers County Commissioners were present to witness the installation while the sidewalk along Main Street was lined with curious citizens. The large 20 by 30 foot flag will be dedicated on September 6 at 3:00 p.m., followed by an ice cream social. Personalized bricks that will be installed around the base of the flagpole can still be ordered by calling Gordon at 719-688-0488.
