Jo Ann Morones…January 23, 1936 – December 6, 2019

Funeral services for Las Animas, Colorado resident, Jo Morones will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 16, 2019 at Horber Funeral Chapel in Las Animas, Colorado with Pastor Steve Hicks officiating. Interment will follow in the Bent/Las Animas Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 15, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.

Jo Ann (Sawin) Morones was born on January 23, 1936 in Oto, Iowa to Myrvin B. & Altha Minnie Sawin. She passed away at her home on December 6, 2019 at the age of 83.

Jo moved to California when she was 21 years old and worked as a secretary for the railroad and then later became a housewife. She then was united in marriage to Anthony Morones in 2012. The couple relocated to Las Animas, Colorado. Jo enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles. She also had a great passion for music. She was a member of the Calvary Chapel.

Jo is survived by her husband, Anthony Morones of the home; children, Cheryl (Ralph) Mendenhall of California and Eric Ewers of Arizona; step children, Ernest (Victoria) Morones of Indiana, Denise Morones of California, and Beatrice Rayburn of Missouri; grandchildren, Jamie and Michael Mendenhall; many other relatives and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; and two sisters.
