A Great Winter Eve for Lamar’s Parade of Lights Festival

Santa Enjoys a Night Out

The parade theme, “Christmas through the Eyes of a Child”, hit all the right notes for this past Friday’s annual Lamar Chamber of Commerce Parade of Lights.

Radio Flyer Means Fun for Kids

The public enjoyed a crisp evening with hardly a breeze and temperatures in the low 30s, Friday, December 6th. Folks lining Lamar’s Main Street sampled some sidewalk refreshments such as cups of hot chocolate provided by Frontier Bank.

Shurler Farms

There were approximately 18 float and walker entries this year with the top three as selected by the Chamber directors as the old-time Radio Flyer entry created by Misty Felan which took top honors.

Making Music, Christmas Carnival Style

Baby boomers can recollect owning their own red and black Radio Flyer wagon from decades past. Crossroads Turning Point took second place, with Shurler Farms, with an antique car and calliope for music, took third.

The audience also enjoyed the dancing of some older members of All the Right Moves at the intersection of Main and Olive just prior to the parade and following, the winter concert at the Shore Arts Center and a visit with Santa through the evening at the Enchanted Forest.
