The Prowers Medical Center, Board of Directors, welcomed a new member, Jacob Chamberlain, during a special board meeting Monday evening, November 18th.
Chamberlain is employed by Frontier Bank in Lamar as Assistance Vice President/Loan Officer. He replaces Steve Givan and will remain in that position until that term expires in May of next year.
The board voted to construct an in-house laundry facility, eventually replacing the commercial venture which has supplied services to PMC in the past. Currently, the hospital has an agreement with Ark Valley Medical Center for the interim. The board estimated the construction cost of the in-house facility, when complete, would equal the annual cost of out-sourcing the laundry service. Karen Bryan, hospital Chief Operations Officer, stated PMC will purchase two washers and dryers to provide on-site back-up in case one malfunctions. Because of the holiday schedule, the board decided to hold its November regular meeting on Monday, December 9th instead of the day before Thanksgiving.
(Correction: Jacob Chamberlain has not replaced Steve Gilgan who was named in the initial article, but Steve Givan-Editor)
