July City Sales Tax Revenue is Up

 

 

The revenues from the July Lamar City Sales Tax, collected in August is up 6.11% and was up 5.70% for Total Sales and Use Tax collections.

The tax revenue increase was $17,300 over last year and $17,826 for Total Sales and Use Tax collections. Taxes collected in 2018 were $312,831 and were $330,658 for 2019, collected in August.

Year to Date collections showed a decline for the period with City Sales Tax off 2.63% for a drop of $62,480 and Total Sales and Use Tax collections were down 4.87% for a decline of $129,685.

City Sales Tax revenues for 2018 were at $2,661,934 and for 2019 there are at $2,532,249.

The twelve retail sales tax categories showed an increase in Apparel and Department Stores and a sharp downturn for C Stores and Gas Sales. The greatest drop was in All Business/Electricity, while Restaurants posted an increase.
