Lamar June Sales Tax Revenue Report

 

 

City of Lamar Sales Tax revenue collected for June, 2019 showed less than a full percentage point loss while Total Sales and Use Tax collections were just up by a negligible amount. City Sales Tax revenue was down 0.15% for a drop of $459.63 with collections for this June at $315,892 compared to 2018 at $316,352.  Use Tax collections were up 15.29% for a gain of $2,931.87.  Total Sales and Use Tax was up 0.07% for a gain of only $236.05.  2019 collections were at $336,126.66 while 2018 was $335,890.61.

Year-to-Date City Sales Tax collections were off 3.81% for a drop of $79,780.75 with 2019 collections at $2,016,403.11 and 2018 at $2,096,183.86. Use Tax collections, year-to-date were down 28.29% and Total Sales and Use Tax collections were off 6.28%.  Collections for 2019 were down $147,512.58.  Collections amounted to $2,201,590.93 and for 2018 they were at $2,349,103.51.

Four of the 12 retail trade categories showed a drop in sales tax revenue, comparing the revenues collections for the past three years, January through July. Sales were off in Building Materials, C Stores and Gas, All Business/Electricity, Liquor Sales and there was an increase in Restaurant business.
