Floyd Thompson…August 6, 1928 – August 20, 2019

Funeral Services for Holly, CO resident, Floyd Thompson will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Valley Memorial Funeral Chapel in Holly, CO with Pastor Kathy Leathers officiating. Interment will follow in the Holly Cemetery. Visitation for Floyd will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, August 30, 2019 at Valley Memorial Funeral Chapel in Holly, CO.

Floyd Nels Thompson was born August 6, 1928 to Fritz and Myota G. (Shelton) Thompson at the family farm Northwest of Holly, CO. On April 15, 1951 he married Barbara R. Lane in Raton, NM. In 1954, Floyd was drafted into the US Army and did his basic training Ft. Ord, CA. After basic training he was stationed at Ft. Sill, OK until 1956. After being honorably discharged, Floyd returned to Holly, CO to resume farming. He was a member of the Amity Board, Co-Op Board, FHA Board, and a member of the Christian Church in Hartman, CO. He loved playing poker and taught his kids and grandkids how to play. Floyd passed away at his home in Holly, CO on August 20, 2019 at the age of 91.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Thompson of Holly, CO; sons, Rod (Keo) Thompson of Holly, CO, Ron Thompson of Holly, CO; daughter, DeAnn (Bob) Parker of Holly, CO; brother, Robert (Adell) Thompson of Holly, CO; 7 grandchildren, Laith Thompson, Brae Medina, ReLeana Conway, Brad Parker, Trevor Parker, Reese Thompson, Brandi Thompson; 12 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.

Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, Fritz and Myota Thompson; and sister, Berniece Tinsley.
