CSP Investigates Highway 50, Otero County Fatality

On Saturday, June 8, 2019 at approximately 8:24 AM, the Colorado State Patrol was notified of a single vehicle crash on Highway 50 at MP 356, in Otero County. The crash location is approximately 5 miles east of Fowler, CO. Upon arrival, Troopers determined a Saturn was traveling eastbound on Highway 50, lost control and traveled off the right side of the road rolling 2 ¾ times.

The driver of the Saturn, 41 year old Jose Garcia, of Rocky Ford, Colorado was seriously injured and transported to Parkview Hospital in Pueblo Colorado. The passenger, 25 year old Linda Garcia of La Junta, Colorado was pronounced deceased on scene. Both driver and passenger were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash

At this time alcohol and speed are not being considered factors in the crash and the crash remains under investigation
