April City Sales Tax Shows a Gain

 

 

City sales tax revenue for the City of Lamar posted a two-fold gain for April, 2019.  General sales tax collections were up 2.19% for a gain of $5,512 and Total Sales and Use Tax collections were up 6.71% for a gain of $18,511 over the previous year.  April collections for 2019 were at $294,336 compared to $275,824 for 2018.

Year-to-Date collections continued to fall behind last year’s revenues with City Sales Tax down 4.85% for a loss of $71,865. 2018 collections were at $1,481,984 compared to $1,410,118 for the current year.  Total Sales and Use Tax collections were down 8.07% for a decrease of $136,499 compared to last year.  2018 collections were at $1,690,762 compared to the current figure of $1,554,262.

Restaurant tax revenues posted a significant gain comparing recent figures from 2019 to 2018. There were noticeable drops in revenues in Building Materials, C-Store and Gas and All Business/Electricity.
