Sue Lewis…November 5, 1935 – May 18, 2019

A come and go memorial visitation for Las Animas resident, Sue Lewis will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Friday, June 7, 2019 at Horber Funeral Chapel in Las Animas, CO. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Altus, OK. Per Sue’s request, cremation has taken place and there will be no public viewing.

L. Sue Lewis, affectionately known as Sue, was born to Austin F. and Ellen J. (Cole) Waldroop in Friendship, OK on November 5, 1935. She married William R. Lewis in 1957 in Altus, OK. They moved to La Junta, CO in 1959 where she worked in banking. Bill was then transferred to Las Animas, CO in 1968. Sue then took a position at 1^st National Bank in Las Animas. She retired from 1^st National Bank in 1994 as Senior Vice President and Cashier. She enjoyed golfing, crafting, gardening, cooking and loved watching basketball. When her grandchildren came along, she adored spending time with them. Sue passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2019 surrounded by her family, following a long illness, at the age of 83.

Sue is survived by her husband, Bill Lewis of Las Animas, CO; daughters, Suzette (Steve) Eck of Las Animas, CO, Gina Lewis (Terry Russell) of Cotopaxi, CO; son, Ray Lewis (Debbie Austin-Rogers) of Las Animas, CO; sister, Caroll Robbins of Las Animas, CO; brother, Raleigh Waldroop of Altus, OK; grandchildren, Chris Weir (Amber Hall) of Fowler, CO, Dax Moser of Anadarko, OK, Eric (Audrey) Trujillo of Kansas City, MO, Ryan Trujillo of Dunedin, FL; 8 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Austin and Ellen Waldroop.
