The Colorado State High School Rodeo was held in Greeley May 10, 11, and 12th at the Island Grove Event Center. The two rodeos were held in the Greeley Stampede Stadium Arena. This the venue of the biggest summer rodeo in Colorado where the all the professionals compete. The junior high and high school competitors were stoked to compete where many of their heroes will ride this July 4th. It would be like the Lamar Savage baseball team playing at Coors Field.
In Rodeo #1 (high school division): Bianca O’Bryan was 9th in Barrel racing 17.71 seconds, 6th in Pole bending 21.9 seconds; Wyatt Wollert was 4th in the Team Roping with partner Heriberto Vazquez 10.71 seconds; Braxton O’Bryan was 2nd in the Steer Wrestling 9.82 seconds and 1st place in the Rifle Shoot score of 283.
(Junior high division): Wayttyn Wollert was 4th in Pole Bending 21.463 seconds
In Rodeo #2 (high school division): Wyatt Wollert/Heriberto Vazquez 4th in Team Roping 9.95 seconds; Braxton O’Bryan was 1st in Rifle Shoot score of 293
(Junior high division): Wayttyn Wollert 4th in Goat tying 9.14 seconds
The Colorado State Finals will be held in Craig, CO, May 23rd-May 27th with two go-rounds and a short-go round. The top four in each event qualify for the Nationals in Rock Spring, Wyoming in July.
Best wishes to the Wollerts and the O’Bryans as they head to state.
