2018 Homecoming for Lamar

Returning classmates for the class of 1968 as well as the 50-plus reunion had a taste of fall and summer like weather during weekend in Lamar this past Thursday through Sunday.

The Friday afternoon homecoming parade was chilly, but enthusiasts and well-wishers lined South 6th Street up to Savage Stadium to view and parade of teams, bands and classes old and new.

Unfortunately, The Classical Academy was victorious over the Savages with a score of 27-6 on Friday evening. Lamar will host Woodland Park this coming Friday, October 5th.

Classmates had an opportunity and several venues from which to renew past acquaintances and friendships. The Shore Arts Center was the downtown focus of gatherings, while the Lamar Elks Lodge hosted several events for the 50-Plus gathering, just over 300 persons, featuring a prime rib or chicken dinner on Saturday evening, set to the musical talents of Lee Robinson.  Tables were set up for classes running as far back as 1947 and the former graduates took time to line up for an up-to-date photo.

The Elks Lodge also hosted a departure breakfast on Sunday, one last bit of time spent together before the returning classmates went their separate ways.
