Gloria Palomino…October 7, 1945 – September 15, 2018

 

A Memorial Mass for Gloria Palomino will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 24, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Las Animas, CO with Father Henry Wertin officiating. Rosary will be held prior to the Mass at 9:30 a.m.  Inurnment will take place at Bent/Las Animas Cemetery.

Gloria Jean Palomino was born on October 7, 1945 in Las Animas, CO to Paul and Annie (Martinez) Medina. She passed away on September 15, 2018 at her home in Las Animas at the age of 72.

Gloria attended Bent County High School. She met and fell in love with Joe Palomino in 1974 and on October 8, 1982 they were united in marriage at her parents’ home.  Throughout her life she loved to spend time with her kids, grandkids, siblings, and her babies, Louie and Hewie.  She enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, cooking, creative crafts, playing Bingo, casino games, and watching her grandkids play sports.  During Joe and Gloria’s married life they loved to go dancing every weekend and cheer on the Denver Broncos.  She was cherished by many nieces and nephew as well as many great and great-great nieces and nephews.  During her illness she was surrounded by her family, friends, and neighbors who provided her love and support.  To quote her husband Joe, “She was a wonderful woman and I cherished every moment with her.”

Gloria is survived by her husband, Joe Palomino; sons, Antonio Arrona, David Arrona, Bryan Arrona, Patrick (Shonda) Arrona, and Daniel Palomino; daughters, Diana Palomino and Barbara Leyba; sister, Linda Trujillo; sisters-in-law, Josie Medina, Martha (Ernie) Montez, and Lorraine (Ed) Arellano; brothers-in-law, John Ortega, Pete (Janet) Palomino, Anthony (Rhonda) Palomino, Valentin (Stella) Palomino, and Gilbert Palomino; 22 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; many other relatives and a host of friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Annie Medina; sons, Andrew Arrona and Charles Arrona; step-son, Joseph Palomino; brothers, Delfino Medina and Richard Medina; sisters, Martha Medina, Mary Gonzales, and Louise Ortega.
