Lamar Sales Tax Revenue Figures Slow Up for April

 

 

While the year to date collection revenues for the City of Lamar kept its health forward momentum for the past year, the April Sales and Use Tax collections slowed with a narrow advance.

City Sales Tax collected for April dropped to a negative number, 0.30% for a loss of $762.50 comparing 2018 collections of $251,997 to $252,760 for 2017. Use Tax collections were still ahead of last year by 21.72% for a gain of $4,123.  The category of ‘Other’ collections dropped by 23.51% for a loss of only $220.62.  Total Sales and Use Tax collections were up 1.15% for a gain of $3,139.  Collections for 2017 were at $272,684 compared to 2018 at $275,824.

Year to date collections still indicated a healthy climb for the year. City Sales Tax collections were up 9.50% for a gain of $128,628.  Collections for 2017 were $1,353,356 and were at $1,693,015 for 2018 for an increase of $200,956.

Almost every retail trade category of the 12 listed for sales tax revenue showed a year to date gain in 2018, compared to the past three years.
