LCC Spring Horse Show set for April 27

(Lamar, Colorado; April 19, 2018) The Lamar Community College Horse Training & Management (HTM) and Equine Business Management (EBM) programs will host their annual Spring Show on Friday, April 27.

The show will be held in the Equine Complex, just north of College Road in Lamar, starting at 10:30am that morning. The community is invited to attend and help celebrate the accomplishments of LCC freshman in the HTM and EBM programs.

Students will demonstrate their skill and all they have taught their horses over the past year by completing a reining pattern. They will be judged on how well they follow the pattern, how well their horse responds to commands, and additional technical aspects.

This year’s show will be judged by Emma Merrill-Burrell, an alumna of the HTM program.

Students will be competing for awards including HTM Champion of Show, Most Improved HTM Student, HTM Student of the Year, EBM Champion of Show, and EBM Student of the Year. Awards include buckles, hand-made spurs, and scholarships.

The Spring Horse Show marks the end of the year and the halfway point in the students’ degrees. They will return in the fall, with those in HTM moving on to specialized training and those in EBM will continue their advanced courses.  Next spring, these students will go on internship to complete their degree.
