September 3rd Fly-In at Lamar Airport

Eric and Tanya McSwan, the new managers at the Lamar Municipal Airport, remind the public of their Fly-In, set for Sunday, September 3rd from 9am to 3pm at the airport.  “This will be to honor our First Responders,” she said, adding that it’s an early tie-in for the September 9th, annual Tri-State 9/11 Tribute and parade which will be held in Lamar at the Prowers County Fairgrounds.

The public will be able to view a Blackhawk Helicopter and view various activities including rescue maneuvers such as hoist or lifting demonstrations, extracting a person from the ground using a jungle penetrator and other First Responder oriented events. Tanya said the REACH helicopter firm that provides flight-for-life missions out of La Junta will also be available for viewing and questions.

Tanya added the free event will run from 9am to 3pm and it is completely family-oriented with some food and the kids can also play with some of the exhibits that will be on display. Lunch will be provided between 11am and 1:30pm.
