Graveside memorial services for Merrell Edward Johnson, affectionately known as Junior, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 14, 2016 at Fairmount Cemetery in Lamar, Colorado. Pastor Harold Bohl will officiate.
Merrell Edward Johnson was born on September 1, 1927 in Colorado to William Merrell and Susie Jane (Freed) Johnson. He passed away on July 31, 2016 at the age of 88.
Junior was an only child. He lived most of his life in Lamar, Colorado. Junior was the oldest of 19 grandchildren on the Freed family side whom he affectionately referred to as “Cousin Buzzin S***”.
Junior, along with his father, Merrell had a lawn mowing business for many years in Lamar. Junior also helped many area farmers and ranchers buck bales, drive tractors, and whatever else they needed help with to get the job done. He was always on call, anytime for his Uncle Carl. Regardless if it was harvest time, plowing or whatever needed to be done on the farm, Junior was there.
Junior had many likes in life including old tractor, going to all the nearby county fairs every year with his good friend, Louie Martinez, and visiting with people. Junior lived life to the fullest and every day was a great day.
Junior is survived by his very special cousins, a very special friend, Sharron Cooke, and a host of friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Susie Johnson.
