Freida M. Maes…October 25, 1954 – May 17, 2016

A Memorial Mass for Freida Marie Maes will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Las Animas, Colorado. Father Raymond Grimes will officiate. A Rosary/Scripture Service will be held at 9:30 a.m. also at the church.

Freida (Jaramillo) Maes was born on October 25, 1954 in Las Animas, Colorado, to Efren and Mary Ann (Martinez) Jaramillo and she passed away on May 17, 2016 in Las Animas, Colorado at the age of 61.

She graduated from Las Animas High School in 1972. She worked at the Best Western Bent’s Fort Inn in Las Animas for 35 years as kitchen manager, retiring in 2003. She then went to work for Prairie View Assisted Living also in Las Animas for approximately six years. Freida was a loving mother to her two children, the adoring grandmother of her seven grandchildren, and a wonderful daughter. She was an extremely caring soul. She greatly enjoyed watching her grandchildren participate in sporting events, fishing and camping, shopping (especially at yard sales), and had vast collections of shoes and crosses. Freida was baptized at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Las Animas. She was loved and respected by many in the community and will be sincerely missed.

Freida is survived by her mother, Mary Ann Ramirez of Las Animas, Colorado; sons, Frank (Melissa) Maes of Las Animas, Colorado and Michael (Chelsea) Maes of Pueblo, Colorado; siblings, David (CeCe) Jaramillo of Las Animas, Colorado, Tom (Felicity) Lopez of Las Animas, Colorado, Mark Jaramillo of Denver, Colorado, Alex (Mary) Licon of Pueblo, Colorado, Eddie (Ruby) Licon of Las Animas, Colorado, Mona (Anthony) Salas of Pueblo, Colorado, Darlene (Tim) Lewellynn of Lamar, Colorado, Naomi Cordova of Tyrone, Oklahoma, Randy Jaramillo, and Efren Jr. Jaramillo; and seven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Efren Jaramillo; and her husband, Daniel Elmer Maes.
