A celebration of life for longtime Lamar resident Winfred A. Wilson, affectionately known to his family and friends as Winnie will be held at 10:00AM on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at the Lamar United Methodist Church with Reverend Barbara Johns-Schleicher officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairmount Cemetery.
Visitation for Winnie will be held from 4:00PM until 7:00PM on Friday, April 22, 2016 at the Peacock Family Chapel.
Winnie was born on November 21, 1926 at Liberal, Kansas to Dewey and Janet (Sutton) Wilson and passed away on April 14, 2016 at the Weisbrod Memorial Nursing Home at the age of 89.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Myrna Wilson; his parents and his siblings, Ian Wilson, Bud Wilson, Murl Burrows and Burl Wilson.
Winnie is survived by his son, Gaylen (Heather) Wilson of Lamar; daughter, Tammy (Tim) Glover of Commerce City, CO; grandchildren, Rachel (Chuck); Renelle (Craig); Seth (Angela); Rae (Greg); Tanner and Troy; step-grandchildren, Dalton; Kaley and Cierra and a great-granddaughter, Zoey. He is also survived by his siblings, Ray (Lila) Wilson; Ines (Floyd) Haley; Loretta (Art) Shepard; Mary Vanderkooy; J.D. (Barbara) Wilson and Bobby (Pat) Wilson as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and many friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lamar Elks and/or Lamar Area Hospice either direct or in care of the funeral home office.
