Lamar Sales Tax Takes Dip and Rise

Sales and Use Tax collections for the City of Lamar for February, collected in March, showed a slight drop with City Sales Tax down for the month at 1.2% for a drop of $2,877. Total Sales and Use Tax collections were also off by 2.46% for a loss of $6,623 for the same period. Monthly collections for 2016 were $236,208 and Total collections were at $262,332 compared to last year at $268,956.
Year to Date collections showed sufficient carry-over to post a gain with City Sales Tax collections up 3.92% for an increase of $31,348 at this time from last year and Total Sales and Use Tax collections were up 8.51% for a year to date gain of $74,875. Year to date collections for 2016 are just under a million dollars at $954,281 compared to 2015 at $879,406.
The 12 retail trade categories showed a general increase compared to the past two years with some fluctuations:
