William Michael “Bill” Barlow, 79, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving wife and family, on August 18, 2026. Born on July 13, 1947, in Lamar, Colorado, Bill was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and true Western outdoorsman.
Bill grew up on the Barlow ranch alongside his five siblings, where he developed a lifelong passion for ranching and working the land. He attended Eads High School, distinguishing himself as an accomplished wrestler. In his youth, Bill was an active member of 4-H, showing pigs and steers, and even tried his hand at riding bulls in hisyounger days. Honoring a call to duty, he also served his country in the National Guard.
Throughout his life, Bill remained deeply connected to the outdoors and his community. He loved fishing, hunting, and camping—especially when sharing those quiet moments with his beloved wife, Phyllis. Fair time held a special place in his heart; he cherished visiting with friends and family and made a point every year to support young, local youth by purchasing animals at the 4-H auction.
Above all, Bill was immensely proud of his family. He spent countless joyful hours in the stands and on the sidelines watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in barrel racing, basketball, volleyball, softball, wrestling, football, and showing 4-H livestock. He took immense pride in watching them grow and following their successful careers.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Marge Barlow, and his son, Allen Wade Watts.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; his 7 children; numerous grandchildren and great- grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; his 5 siblings; and a large circle of extended family and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
