The Lamar RE-2 School Board met on Monday, May 11, 2026. The Board voted to approve payment of April bills and payroll. Also approved was the upcoming awarding of diplomas to the Class of 2026, LEAF Scholarship recipients, a food service contract with Chartwells for the 2026-2027 school year, grades 3-5 Social Studies curriculum, and grades K-5 Writing curriculum.
A travel study trip request for the Lamar High School FFA students to the state convention in Pueblo on June 2-4, 2026 was approved. Retirement and Transition Year (2026-2027 School Year) approvals included Kathleen LaCost, Reading Intervention at Parkview Elementary and Judy Souders, Media Clerk at Washington Elementary. Hirings for 2025-2026 School Year were approved for Veronica Olvera, Route Bus Driver and Lori Bennett, Certified Substitute. Approved hirings for the 2026/2027 School Year included Tach Brewer, Music Teacher at Lamar Middle School; Tony Herrera, Summer School at Lamar High School; Naomi Ledesma, Assistant Principal at Washington Elementary; John Loflin, Weight Training (Summer) at Lamar High School; Erik Nieschburg, Weight Training (Summer) at Lamar High School; Mariah Stegman, Art Teacher at Lamar Middle School; Liam Toomey, Volunteer Assistant Football Coach at Lamar High School; Tayla Turner, Drama Thespians at Lamar High School; Alexandra Wells, 6th grade Social Studies at Lamar Middle School; Brian Dunning, Youth Sports; Amy Schmidt, Intramurals at Parkview Elementary.
Resignations were approved for Mykayla Crum, School Secretary at Parkview Elementary; Gina Dickerson, Assistant Principal at Washington Elementary; Jessica Gomez, Paraprofessional at Washington Elementary; Kaylee Hampton, Special Education Teacher at Lamar Middle School, Kristen Medina, Special Education Teacher at Lamar High School; Marisa Vazquez, Kindergarten Teacher at Washington Elementary; Michelle Wallace, Drama Thespians at Lamar High School; Aldahir Andrade, Paraprofessional at Lamar Middle School; Issair “Jason” Andrade, Paraprofessional at Parkview Elementary; Staci Greenlee, Intramurals at Parkview Elementary; Kaylee Hampton, Assistant Volleyball Coach at Lamar Middle School; Lauryn Reyes, Assistant Softball Coach at Lamar High School; Heather Wollert, Assistant Volleyball Coach at Lamar High School. The Board also voted to approve a Superintendent Contract for Dr. Chad Krug for the 2026/2027 School Year.
