Five local students from Lamar High School and McClave High School are recipients of Boettcher Foundation and Daniels Fund Scholarships

Five local students from both Lamar High School and McClave High School were recently named as recipients of two prestigious scholarships – The Boettcher Foundation Scholarship and the Daniels Fund Scholarship.

The Boettcher Foundation Scholarship selects only 50 students state-wide.  Recipients are generally in the top 2% of their class, and have average SAT scores of 1400, which is approximately the 97th-percentile. Students receiving the Boettcher Scholarship receive a full ride (tuition, fees, books, room and board, and other expenses) to any four-year college in Colorado.  Criteria for selection include not only scholastic ability, but evidence of leadership, service to community and school, and outstanding character.

The Daniels Fund Scholarship is a comprehensive, four-year scholarship for high-achieving students in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming.  The scholarship covers the full cost of attendance to any of the Fund’s partner schools.  At non-partner schools, it covers up to $25,000 per year (total of $100,000) in tuition, fees, room and board, books and other education expenses.  Recipients are known for their strong character, leadership, and commitment to service.

Winners from our area include two Lamar High School students and three McClave High School students.  Braxen Shelton of Lamar High School is the recipient of the Boettcher Foundation Scholarship. Alyssa Postma of Lamar High School is a recipient of the Daniels Fund Scholarship. Garret Van Dyke of McClave High School is the recipient of the Boettcher Foundation Scholarship as well as the Daniels Fund Scholarship.  Other Daniels Fund winners from McClave High School are Corbin Yagers and Weston Morgan.

Congratulations to all of these outstanding students.  We wish you the best in your future endeavors as you move on to the next phase of your educational experience.  You are shining examples of success and make us all proud!
