Joe Louis Fierro – March 5, 1942 – January 24, 2026

A Celebration of Life for Joe Fierro will be held at a later date. Per his request, cremation has taken
place and there will be no visitation.

Joe Louis Fierro was born on March 5, 1942 in Lamar, Colorado to Jose and Leonor (Ortiz) Fierro. He
passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family at Prowers Medical Center in Lamar, Colorado on
January 24, 2026 at the age of 83.

Joe, a man of many talents and interests, was known for his exceptional welding skills and his
sometimes-ornery charm that brought laughter to those around him. He had a passion for gardening,
nurturing plants with the same love and care that he extended to his family and friends. Joe’s love for
animals was evident through the numerous pets he cared for throughout his life, each one holding a
special place in his heart.

Joe proudly served his country in the United States Navy, enlisting in a time of great challenge and
change. His service was marked by honor and commitment, culminating in his honorable discharge on
July 13, 1965. The values instilled in him during his military service guided him throughout his life,
shaping him into a person who was always willing to lend a helping hand and support those in need.
He is survived by his wife, Tanya Fierro; children, Tamra (Manuel), Todd (Marla), and Tiffany (Ron);
grandchildren, Tanner (Alie), Carter (Sydney), Aliceson, and Ashley (Sean); great grandchildren, Miles
and Olivia; sister, Jenny (Henry) Cruz; brother-in-law, Gunter Bernhardt; special niece, Mary Lucy
Trujillo; close friend, Don Springer; several nieces and nephews; many other relatives and a host of
friends. Joe was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mary Perez, Ruby Gonzales, Bonnie Rios, and Ramona Bernhardt; grandson, Logan Chacon; and mother-in-law, Denzel Hall.
