Grace Banta…December 31, 1927 – February 4, 2018

 

Memorial Services for Grace Banta will be held at 11am on Friday, February 9, 2018 at the First Presbyterian Church in Las Animas, Colorado with Reverend Charles Kelly officiating. Inurnment will take place at 1pm at Fort Lyon National Cemetery. Per Grace’s request, cremation has taken place.

Amy Grace Banta, known to most as Grace, was born on December 31, 1927 in Missouri to Clyde Thomas and Mable Jane (Hopkins) Montgomery. She passed away on February 4, 2018 at Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo, Colorado at the age of 90.

Grace was married to Wayne E. Banta on April 2, 1950 in Las Animas, CO. To this union, they had four children. Grace took great pride in being a homemaker.  She not only was a wonderful mother and wife but an excellent cook and seamstress. Church played a very large role in Grace’s life and she remained active in the Presbyterian Church for many years.

Grace is survived by her children, Clyde Banta of Las Animas, CO, Christine (Clark) Trexel of Astoria, OR, Carl Banta of Winter Park, CO, and Cathy (Jerry) Wooten of Moriarty, NM; siblings, Rosalie (Bob) Smith of Canon City, CO, George (Donna) Montgomery of Butler, MO, and Reta Montgomery of Climax Springs, MO; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; many other relatives and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Mable Montgomery; husband, Wayne Banta; and brother, Creighton Montgomery.
