Crystal (Rushton) Clymer…September 15, 1961 – November 7, 2017

 

Memorial Services for Crystal Clymer will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Valley Memorial Funeral Chapel in Holly, Colorado. Inurnment will follow at the Holly Cemetery.  Crystal’s family invites relatives and friends to join them for dinner following the graveside service.

Crystal Ann (Rushton) Clymer, age 56, passed away at her home in Lamar, Colorado on Tuesday, November 7, 2017.

Crystal was born on September 15, 1961 in Lamar, Colorado to Melvin and Marie Rushton. Raised in Holly, Colorado, she spent her childhood with family and friends, involved in 4H, and enjoying square dance.  Crystal graduated from Holly High School in 1979 where played volleyball and was a cheerleader.  She worked waiting tables at various local restaurants.  After high school she moved to Littleton, CO and provided touch up painting for a homebuilder.

In 1980, she married Eldon Clymer and they resided in Wheatland, Wyoming.  In 1981, the couple moved to Garden City, Kansas where Crystal earned a nursing certificate.  In 1982, they moved to Dinosaur, Colorado where Crystal worked as a receptionist at a motel/sporting good store.  In 1983, the couple moved to Nephi, Utah where Crystal gave birth to her sons, Travis and Austin.  In 1986, the family then moved to Fiddletown, California where they built their home and Crystal gave birth to their daughter, Sadie.

After her children were in school, Crystal went to work for the school district as a teacher’s aide and administrative assistant.  Here she earned a certificate for teaching the Lindamood Bell method of reading.  Crystal had a talent for arts and crafts, building a costume collection for the Plymouth Elementary School holiday plays.  She was involved with the community as a volunteer coach and helping hand for the Mother Lode Youth Soccer League.  In 2006, Crystal went to work for the Preston School of Industry where she helped juvenile inmates earn their GED.  Then in 2008, she moved to Lamar, Colorado to be closer to her brother and sisters.

Crystal is survived by her three children, Travis (Christine) Clymer, Austin (Nicolette) Clymer and Sadie (Chris) Clymer Sanchez; sisters, Melissa Swopes and Taniska Eddy; grandchildren, Eva Clymer, Owen Clymer, and Bennett Clymer; as well as countless nephew, nieces, other relatives, and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin V. Rushton and Marie L. Rushton; and brother, Curt Rushton; and niece, Meisha Rushton.
