Beverly June Stricker was born Beverly Krier on September 9, 1929 in West Allis, Milwaukee Wisconsin to Alex and Edna Krier. She passed away, just 20 days after her beloved husband Herman Stricker, on November 13, 2017 at Bent County Health Care Center in Las Animas, CO at the age of 88.

Beverly grew up in Wisconsin surrounded by a loving tight knit German Family and Community. Her family relocated to Ohio in her youth and Beverly graduated from Holy Family High School in Columbus, Ohio. She met her true love, Herman at a drive-in hamburger joint and they were married just four weeks later on July 5, 1949. At the time of her death they had shared 68 years of adventure together. Herman and Beverly were blessed with two children, Rodney and Bonnie. In the early 1960’s they moved their small family to Modesto, California to live the California version of the American Dream. They shared a wonderful life and beautiful home on Wylma Way.  They made lifelong friends of their neighbors and Beverly spent many hours socializing over coffee with her best friend and neighbor, June Barnes.

Herman and Beverly followed their daughter, Bonnie and granddaughter, Kimberly’s families to Las Animas Colorado in 1998. She enjoyed her new home, going to garage sales with her daughter, attending her great-grandchildren’s school programs, Senior Center Activities, and small town life.

Beverly was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, sewing, crafting, and decorating – especially for the holidays – she was renowned for her hand crafted beaded Christmas ornaments. She was a patriotic supporter of the military as her husband was a Purple Heart Recipient of the Korean war, her son and son-in-law were career navy men, and 1 grandson, and 2 grandson-in-laws also served in the military. She loved the Catholic Church, its traditions, and was a faithful servant. She treasured the times she traveled to visit family in Lahr Germany, all things Bavarian, her pets, and her family. Beverly’s true passion was helping animals – she raised many an orphan puppy, kitten, bird, and rabbit through the years and rescued homeless animals before there was even a term for “animal rescuers”. She generously donated to many animal welfare agencies and their causes.

Beverly is survived by son, Rodney Stricker of TwentyNine Palms, California; granddaughters, Kimberly (Robert) Montejano of La Junta, Colorado, Anna Pilson of Tennessee, Ursula (Robert) Gallagher of Pennsylvania; grandsons, Timothy (Raina) Groves of Indiana, and Aaron Stricker of California; 10 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Doris Krier of California and Alice Stricker of Ohio, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Beverly was preceded in death by her true love, Herman Stricker; daughter, Bonnie Keaton; parents, Edna and Alex Krier; stepmother, Elisabeth Krier; brother, Orchel Krier; and great- granddaughter, Sasha Montejano.
