Moonlight Madness and Other Scary Fun Events for Lamar

The annual Moonlight Madness celebration, hosted this year by Lamar Partnership Incorporated, was held Thursday, October 26th with participating businesses along downtown Lamar.

As usual, store owners, dressed for the occasion as young and old alike turned out, either in costume or civilian dress to see what the stores offered in the way of treats, discounts and savings.

(The Southeast Colorado Arts Council held its 48th autumn art show, with an opening reception at Shore Arts Center from 6pm to 9pm during Moonlight Madness in downtown Lamar.

People’s Choice voting was held that evening and the awards were presented at 8pm in adult and children divisions. They included: Best of Show, People’s Choice, Area Attractions, and the Southeast Colorado Arts Council/Anne Boken Trust Award. The judge for the show was Carol Gill.

Plenty of Halloween activities are still lined up, but residents are reminded the weather may turn chilly on Tuesday night when you’re out and about. The Lamar Public Library, Lamar Fire Department and the Lamar Police Department. will host the annual Trunk or Treat at the Lamar Public Library parking lot from 5pm – 7pm on Tuesday, October 31.  Trick-or-treaters are encouraged to wear their favorite Halloween costume and to bring the entire family. They will be passing out treats, giving away prizes and will be fun for all.

Three Halloween events are coming to Lamar Community College on October 30 and 31: Princess Day at the Cosmetology Salon, Treat Street, and the LCC Cosmetology’s Halloween Party. Princess Day will be held in conjunction with Treat Street again this year and is set for Monday, October 30, from 3:00-5:00pm in the Salon.

LCC and KVAY have once again partnered to host Treat Street, also on Monday night, from 5:30-7:30pm in the Betz Technology Center. Children of all ages are invited to come trick-or-treat safely through the building.

The Living Covenant Fellowship offers free family friendly fun! Fall festival featuring a “Fear Factor” room!  There will be three drawings for prizes, candy, games, snacks, and more! Come dressed in your costume. 6-8 pm on Oct. 31. 110 Lee Ave., Lamar.

Trunk or Treat is being hosted by the Victory World Outreach in Lamar on Tuesday, October 31st beginning at 6pm

Hell’s Half Acre Haunted House will still be open on Monday and Tuesday, Oct 30-31 from 6:30pm to 12 midnight at 109 East Hickory Street.  Kids’ night will still be available on the 30th, and the kiddie hour is free.
