Marilyn Coats…April 8, 1930 – August 26, 2017

Graveside services for Marilyn Gene Coats will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 1, 2017 at Hillside Cemetery in Granada, Colorado. Reverend Ian Blacker will officiate. Visitation for Marilyn will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Valley Memorial Funeral Chapel in Lamar, CO.

Marilyn was born on April 8, 1930 to Hugh Cornelius Murray and Nellie Belle (Bivens) Murray in Granada, CO. She was the seventh child of nine. She married Gerald King and to this union 4 boys were born; Robert, Michael, Larry, and Dave. Marilyn spent most of her life in Prowers County. She lived in Granada, Hartman, and Lamar with a short, few years living in California. She was married to Herbert Coats until his death in 2008. Marilyn passed away in Lamar, CO. at the age of 87.

Marilyn is survived by her sons, Robert (Karen) King of Amarillo, TX., Michael (Linda) King of Holly, CO., Larry (Donnita) King of Lamar, CO., and David King of Lamar, CO.; step-children, Debbie (Tom) McKibbon of Lamar, CO., Kim (Tina) Coats of Centennial, CO., and Bill (Kay) Coats of Aurora, CO; sister-in-law, Margaret Murray; 10 grandchildren; 7 step-grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gerald King and Herbert Coats; sisters, Vivian Brase, Virtue Ferdig, Bernadine Friezen, LaVonne Peters, Marilee Morrow; brothers, Vincent Murray, Melvin Murray, and Leon Murray.
