Investigation Leads to Drug Arrest

The Drug Task Force consisting of the Prowers County, Kiowa County, Baca County, and Cheyenne County Sheriff’s Offices have been conducting drug related investigations. The Colorado State Patrol also assisted for this incident.

On 6-8-2017, the Task Force executed a search warrant for a residence in the 7000 block of County Road MM, in Prowers County. The search yielded almost two ounces of suspected Cocaine, several grams of suspected Methamphetamines and less than a gram of suspected Heroin and some Suboxone. A firearm was also found at the residence.

Due to the discovery of the illegal drugs, Jose “Sonny” Alvarez was arrested and charged with:

Unlawful Possession of a Schedule III Controlled Substance, a Drug Misdemeanor 1

Unlawful Possession of a Schedule II  Controlled Substance – two counts, a Drug felony 4

Unlawful Possession of a Schedule I   Controlled Substance, a Drug felony 4

Unlawful Distribution of a Schedule III Controlled Substance, a Drug Felony 3

Unlawful Distribution of a Schedule II  Controlled Substance – two counts, a Drug Felony 3

Unlawful Distribution of a Schedule I   Controlled Substance, a Drug Felony 2

And Special Offenses, Drug Felony 1, due to the firearm being present.

Alvarez was transported to the Prowers County Jail and held on those charges with a bond set at $200,000 Cash Only.

All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
