Scholarships Available for the Summer Semester at Lamar Community College

New-LCC-LOGOCOSI scholarship funds available in addition to LCC’s Three for Two promotion

Getting an education at Lamar Community College may never be more affordable than right now.  In addition to LCC’s Three for Two summer promotion and other financial aid options typically available, the LCC Foundation has been authorized to distribute Colorado Opportunity Scholarship Initiative (COSI) funds in the summer as well.

COSI scholarship funds are available for Baca, Cheyenne, and Prowers County students.  These students can receive up to $750 for the summer semester if enrolled full time.  Awards will be prorated for less than full-time enrollment.

To be eligible for the summer COSI scholarship, the student must have filed their 2016-2017 FAFSA with LCC with an Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) of less than 13085, be a Colorado resident (U.S. citizen or FAFSA-eligible permanent resident), and live in Baca, Cheyenne or Prowers counties. They must also be working toward a certificate or degree.  Interested students can apply online at www.lamarcc.edu/scholarships.

This opportunity is particularly helpful for area students within one year of completing their degree or wishing to complete a certificate.  For example, a student entering LCC’s Nail Technician program this summer could see significant savings by using both the COSI scholarship and Three for Two promotion.

Teale Hemphill, Director of Financial Aid, said, “We have multiple financial aid and scholarship options available this summer; this is a great time to get started at LCC and for current students to make quicker progress toward degree completion.”

Through the Three for Two promotion, any student who enrolls in nine or more credits this summer at LCC can receive a tuition-only scholarship for up to $410.70, which is equal to three resident on-campus credits.  To learn more about Three for Two, visit www.lamarcc.edu/three-for-two.
