Lamar resident, Clifford Boxley, was presented with a certificate of appreciation Tuesday, May 30th from his efforts on behalf of local veterans.  The Prowers County Commissioners made the presentation to Boxley, with his wife, Barbara and County Veterans Service Officer, Gary Harbert, in attendance.

Commissioner Ron Cook offered his appreciation on behalf of commissioners, Wendy Buxton-Andrade and Tom Grasmick, to the service provided by Boxley. He is one of several drivers who volunteer take local veterans to their medical appointments in Denver, Colorado Springs and Pueblo.  Boxley said the ten thousand hours of driving roughly translates to 400,000 miles.  Harbert had noted last month, that his office is seeking volunteer drivers who can donate some of their free time to transporting veterans through the week.  A stipend is provided to cover some associated costs.  Contact Harbert at 336-2606 for details.
