Lamar, CO – The Lamar Chamber of Commerce and several local organizations will celebrate this holiday season with family festivities in the Enchanted Forest beginning this Saturday, December 10th. To kick off this year’s family fun, the Lamar Chamber of Commerce and Lamar Parks and Recreation will host the Second Annual Dashers Dash 5k.  Registration will begin at 9:00 a.m., at the Enchanted Forest, and the race will begin at 10:00 a.m. with prizes offered for the fastest runner in each age category.

After the race, you can warm up with a cup of hot cocoa and wait for Santa. Volunteers from Prowers Medical Center and High Plains Community Health Center will host activities for families from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.  Families will be able to ride on Santa’s train through the forest along with crafts and snacks for the children and a fun scavenger hunt.  Santa and Mrs. Claus will be there to greet everyone and have their photographs taken – parents are encouraged to bring your cameras and capture the magic.

Santa’s Train will run again on Saturday, December 17th, as the holiday fun continues with the Lamar Rotary Club and Rotaract hosting time with Santa Claus at the Shore Arts Center from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Everyone is invited to come to the Shore Arts Center and participate in several craft stations, Christmas Carolers to put us all in the holiday spirit, train rides to the Enchanted Forest, and you can have your family’s “Santa Photo” taken, for free, as a photographer captures your child’s special moment on Santa’s lap.

The Lamar Chamber of Commerce would like to thank the many organizations that continue to bring the Christmas Spirit to Lamar and our families. Sincere thank you to Pat Palmer, Doug Cash and the LCC Welding Program, Axle Thurner, Deano Hendrickson and Alberto Aguirre and the elves at CF Maier, John Gersick and the art students of the Lamar High School have all kept Santa’s Train looking its best and running strong.  A special thank you to Pat Mason and Bill Kisamore for their care and attention to the “little engine that can” along with a huge thank you to the City of Lamar and the beautiful work they have done repaving the pathway of the Enchanted Forest, stringing the lights through the trees, and keeping our treasured Enchanted Forest beautiful.

Bring your family and enjoy your community in the Enchanted Forest beginning this Saturday. If you have any questions, please contact the Lamar Chamber of Commerce at 719-336-4379.
